The Retail Germany division

The Retail Germany division brings together the German retail and commercial business of the HDI-Gerling groups as well as that of the bancassurance sector. The new divisional company will bear the name Talanx Deutschland AG with effect from 1.1.2011. With gross premium income of around EUR 6.8 billion in the 2010 financial year the division ranks among Germany's top insurers and employs roughly 6,100 people.

The division offers German retail and commercial customers insurance protection that fits their needs. The range of products extends from property/casualty covers through all lines of retirement provision to complete solutions for small and mid-sized enterprises as well as freelance professionals. In this context, all sales channels are at its disposal – not only its own tied agents' organization but also sales through independent intermediaries and multiple agents, direct sales and cooperative ventures with bancassurance partners.

The primary reason for the reconfiguration of the organization is the orientation of the division towards our customers. The functional organization ensures clear responsibilities and puts in place the platform for operations across the previous boundaries between the property/casualty and life lines of insurance. This perspective spanning the various lines of business is a vital prerequisite for improving processes and services to the benefit of our customers.
