Market position
HDI Seguros S.A. (HDI/BR) has been established on the South American market since the 70s - until the insurance sectors deregulation in 1996 with changing shareholder participation. After starting as a service provider for German industrial clients HDI/BR progressed to become today's personal lines underwriters with the emphasis on motor insurance. The company is nationwide established and has a leading role in the southern states in motor insurance. The established distribution network of branches and offices as well as additional fast claim services is continuously enlarged by the establishment of further branches.
History
1979
HDI V.a.G. holds an interest in the Companhia Ilhéus Seguros S.A. company, which was renamed as Hannover Internacional de Seguros S.A.
1986
Brasil Seguros, subsequently AGF Brasil Seguros, takes over the majority interest as a statutory sponsored Brazilian insurer.
1993
HDI V.a.G. takes up the shares in the AGF Brasil Seguros S.A.
1994
The statutory sponsored 50% shareholding sold to Companhia Paulista Seguros.
1997
HDI takes over the Companhia Paulista Seguros S.A. shares via HDI International Holding N.V.
1999
Change in corporate strategy and concentration on private business outside São Paulo, main emphasis on motor insurance.
2000
Expansion of the branches and sales offices in southern states.
2003
Transfer of shares from HDI International Holding N.V. (Netherlands) to HDI International Holding AG (Germany).
2004
Change of company name to HDI Seguros S.A.
2005
Acquisition of the property casualty insurer of HSBC Bank Brazil: HDI Seguros de Automóveis e Bens S.A.
2006
Completely approved integration of HDI Seguros de Automóveis e Bens S.A. into HDI Seguros S.A.
2011
From 2011 onwards HDI-Gerling International AG is trading as Talanx International AG.
