Market position

HDI Assicurazioni S.p.A. (HDI/I) was created in March 2001 from what was originally BNC Assicurazioni. This company had established its position over the years within the HDI Group, which had held the majority interest since 1997 in the company. Today - with regard to the Italian market - this medium-sized company offers products geared to various insurance sectors through its offices spread out across Italy. The success of HDI/I is primarily due to the fact that it conducts business with specific target groups. Ever since the company was formed the most important clientele is that of the Italian Railways' employees and pensioners.

History

1881
In Bologna a group of railway workers forms the "Società di Mutuo Soccorso tra gli agenti delle strade ferrate italiane".

1997
The HDI Groups takes over 70% of the portfolio of shares of BNC Assicurazioni.

2001
The fusion of BNC Assicurazioni and "La Mannheim" results in the HDI Assicurazioni.

2004
The HDI Group takes over the remaining 30% of the portfolio of shares from San Paolo IMI di Torino.
HDI/I founds the subsidiary HDI Immobiliare S.r.l. and spin-off of the company’s real estate.
HDI/I takes over 12% of the shares from Apulia Prontoprestito S.p.A., San Severo.

2005
Portfolio of shares of Apulia Prontoprestito S.p.A., San Severo accounts 10.6%.

2007
Foundation of InChiaro Assicurazioni, a joint venture with BancaSella (51%). Policies are issued over the counter.
Foundation of HDI Servizi s.r.l. a service company for the group.

2008
Acquistion of 3% in Banca Monte Parma in order to expand bank sales.

2011
From 2011 onwards HDI-Gerling International AG is trading as Talanx International AG.
