A company with strong roots
HDI-Gerling has been an active brand in the insurance market since October 2006. That was when life insurers HDI and Gerling merged to create HDI-Gerling Lebensversicherung AG. A year later, the property/casualty insurers of HDI and Gerling followed suit and merged to form the HDI-Gerling Property Insurance Group.
The mergers were preceded by the acquisition of the Gerling Group by Talanx, the owner of HDI Versicherungen. The union of HDI und Gerling marks the marriage fusion of two companies that each look back on a history stretching more than a hundred years into the past.
With a view to better aligning the company's organization with clients' requirements and enhancing customer satisfaction, the previous two-way split into "Property/Casualty Primary Insurance" and "Life Primary Insurance" was replaced in the Talanx Group effective 1.1.2011 with a three-way split geared to customer groups:
On 1.1.2011 Talanx Deutschland AG commenced operations as the umbrella company for the new division of Private & Commercial Lines Germany. At the same time Talanx International AG took the helm of the Private & Commercial Lines International division. Even though both divisional companies bear the Talanx name, they will continue to operate with their respective brands. Corporate & Industrial Lines will continue to be headed by HDI-Gerling Industrie Versicherung AG.
